At the Orange Chiropractic Centre, we strive to distinguish ourselves as the most trusted provider of treatment for headaches, back pain, sciatica, scoliosis, postural problems and more in our community. And recent statistics strongly suggest we are succeeding in that goal.
You'll see in the photo above that Mini Mick has "92%" emblazoned across his chest. This number represents the amount of new clients who chose the team at Orange Chiro in the last three months who were encouraged to consult with us by nature of our great reputation and word of mouth referrals.
Yep, that's right...a whopping NINETY-TWO PERCENT from word of mouth referrals and reputation.
This means that more than 9 out of 10 of the new clients we've met recently have contacted us because their partners, family members, friends and work colleagues have trusted Orange Chiro enough for them to stake their reputation on saying, "go see Mick".
So, to those of you who've recommended Orange Chiro to people who are looking for answers and relief from their spinal and musculoskeletal conditions, we are sincerely grateful. Thank you.

It has been said that you can only understand the pain of a migraine if you’ve ever experienced one. And if you experience migraines, this short blog post will be of interest to you.
The University of Maryland Medical Centre reports on a common condition we treat people for … migraine headaches. In one study of people with migraines, it was found that a 90% reduction in migraine episodes was reported by 22% of those who received chiropractic treatment, while 49% of participants reported a significant reduction of the intensity of each migraine.
In another study, people with migraine headaches were randomly assigned to receive spinal manipulation, a daily medication or a combination of both. Spinal manipulation worked as well as the medication in reducing migraines and had fewer side effects.
So if someone you know suffers from migraines, encourage them to consult with Dr. Mick Cornish at the Orange Chiropractic Centre.
Get into Orange Chiro. Get out of pain. Get moving freely. Get back to living life on your terms.
Today, we celebrate the discovery of technology that helps Dr. Mick Cornish at the Orange Chiropractic Centre to diagnose and treat many common musculoskeletal conditions. The technology referred to is x-ray imaging.
Did you know that x-rays were discovered the very same year that chiropractic was discovered? The year was 1895 and on November 8, Wilhelm Rontgen discovered x-rays.
And did you know that our very own region has national historical significance in the use of x-rays?
Way back in 1896, barely a year after the discovery of x-rays, St. Stanislaus College in Bathurst became the site of the first x-ray taken for diagnostic purposes in Australia. This x-ray was taken by Father Joseph Slattery on 21 September that year and showed the location of gunshot in the shattered hand of an ex-student.
Today, the Orange Chiropractic Centre has its own on-site x-ray which allows for convenient identification of the root cause (altered spinal structures and biomechanics) for many of the conditions we treat on a daily basis …
migraines, back pain, sciatica, scoliosis, headaches, disc bulges, restricted shoulder motion, frozen shoulder, hip pain, headaches, vertigo, postural abnormalities and more
X-rays are not always needed to identify and treat your condition but if required, we can take the x-ray on-site here at Orange Chiro and show you the results within minutes.
This is an example of a full spine weight bearing x-ray. This individual has a left convex scoliosis with the apex at T11/T12. Also evident is rotation of the pelvis and the cervical spine tilting to the right. A right posterior rotation of the skull is also present.
Presentations such as this can be the root cause of headaches, neck pain, back pain and having one leg appear shorter than the other ... and no amount of pills or potions can address the problem like the dedicated professionals at Orange Chiro.
Remember ... look after your spine as if its the only one you'll ever have.
Well, it’s been run and won for another year and if you had a plunge on Almandin, you’re sure to have a smile on your face.
The Melbourne Cup may be the race that stops the nation but it didn’t stop the team at Orange Chiro being available to assist people whose back pain was stopping their day!
But it’s not just we humans who rely on the expertise of our chiropractor to keep us energised and functioning efficiently. Did you know that many of those multi-million dollar “hacks” you saw charging up the home straight this afternoon receive chiropractic treatment? And yes, just like you, even the great Black Caviar received chiropractic care throughout her stellar racing career.
When asked about treating Black Caviar, her chiropractor Michael Bryant said “She was a no frills horse, a great patient. She’d just stand here and let you go over her and she obviously took some maintenance, she had a few niggles. To be a part of her career has certainly been a highlight,” he said.
Another horse-trainer summed up the benefits of chiropractic care for their horses by saying the chiropractor “can diagnose a problem sometimes before it happens, he’s just as important in the prevention of injury as he is in healing them. We’re grateful to have him and our horses are better for his work,” they said.
And yes, it works the same with humans. You can see the team at Orange Chiro when you injure yourself or like Black Caviar, commit to spinal maintenance to ensure you’re functioning to your greatest potential.
Either way, you’re backing a winner!
Back pain is one of the leading causes for pain and discomfort in Australia. It can be mild or debilitating and accounts for the majority of people seeking treatment at the Orange Chiropractic Centre. Thankfully, the cause of most back pain episodes is for mechanical reasons … slips, falls, bending over and having the back “lock out”, lifting incidents and yes even coughing or sneezing can cause back pain episodes.
Generally speaking, there are two approaches to treating back pain; chemical treatment and mechanical treatment. Let’s think about the two approaches in this way.
Imagine if you took your car to a mechanic because after hitting a pothole (not that you'd find any of these in Orange!) you could hear the front tyre rubbing against the front panel of the car. Now imagine your response if the mechanic said, “She’ll be right, we’ll just spray some silicone on the tyre so you can’t hear it the noise it makes as it rubs against the panel”. I doubt you’d accept this logic because it just doesn’t make sense. The symptom might not be as obvious but the underlying problem is still present.
Treating the symptom can make you feel better in the short-term and this is why pain-killers and anti-inflammatory drugs are so seductive … they make us feel better but have they addressed the cause of the symptoms? No, they haven’t.
If you wouldn’t accept this "logic" when something is not working right with your car then you shouldn’t accept this logic when it comes to your back either. Remember, you can replace your car but you can’t replace your spine.
Looking after your spine as if it’s the only one you’ll ever get is THE logical thing to do.
Having pain or pins and needles in your backside or down the back of your leg is not normal.
It could be caused by a disc bulge, sacroiliac dysfunction or piriformis syndrome. And even though these three conditions might feel similar, the appropriate treatment for each is very different ... so different in fact that if you've received the wrong treatment, your condition might get worse.
Therefore, early detection of the root cause of your pain is vital if you want to reduce the pain and restore proper function in the shortest possible time.
If you or someone you know experiences frequent or even occasional sciatica symptoms ... schedule an appointment with Orange Chiro today. But only of course, if you want a safe, effective and natural pain relief solution to your sciatica!
Today's post looks at disc bulges and why being told that a bulging disc is the cause of your back pain symptoms might not be 100% accurate.
Ah, the dreaded disc bulge … but is it really the cause of your back pain?
Maybe, yes... maybe,no....
Dr. Mick Cornish first started providing trusted pain relief solutions to the people of Orange in 1998.
